Rocky Tropical Shores Ecology

Species in the rocky tropical shores constantly grow and reproduce themselves.  Many plants and animals in this region are very smart and flexible.  They would adapt with any changes that the environment imposes upon them.  To survive and reproduce, strong animals would kill weaker ones.  In the rocky tropical shores of Populus, plants are the primary source of energy for all living things.  Using the sunlight of Eris and minerals in the surrounding area, many creatures thrive and remain strong.

Primary Producers

Duranium was the result of transformation when Durnams got to the rocky tropical shores of Populus millions of years ago.  With an average length of 15 to 20 inches, Duranium was a favorite diet for Mantoadian and Dranion.  Duranium are mostly seen growing around Manglo.

Manglo are tiny plants roughly three inches tall and would be a good source of food for many fishes in the region. They tend to grow in bunches to create an image of a "giant" plant to its predators.  They have strong holdfasts that allowed them to stay put, preventing currents from washing them away. Dranion would love to have a piece of Manglo for its dietary supplement.

Squinspades are another type of water plant that takes refuge in the rocky tropical shores.  Like others, these plants have strong anchors, allowing them to thrive in areas of very rough surf.  It is a favorite source of diet for many other species, especially is a special meal for Dranion.

Primary Consumers

With the ability to inhale and exhale fairly easily in Populus' oceans, Dranion becomes the primary consumer of these rocky tropical shores.  It is not a very big "fish", but it is quick.  Dranion consume mostly primary producers as their main dish.  But from time to time, one can see some aggressive Dranion feed on their relatives.  They like to nest by the rock openings.

Secondary Consumers

Anglers can swim  fairly quickly under the water.  They love to eat small plants and small organisms.  Of all the food available, they prefer to have newly hatched Dranion.   There was nothing Dranion would do to protect its offspring since Anglers would use their sharp teeth to seriously injure Dranion.  On the other hand, with well-camouflaged powerful jaws, Mantoadian hides on the ocean bottom and snatches Dranion by surprise.  These jaws are used to clamp down on Dranion preventing it from escaping.
