Sonny's Water Animals

The Drious Family

On planet Populous, animals initially formed in the oceans with the evolution of a uni-cell organism known as Arcos.  Structurally, Arcos was not much different from plant cells.  These simple cells are made of 3 parts: Golgi body, Nucleus and Ribosome.  Arcos moved easily in water and multiplied rapidly.  They consumed their own kind for survival.

They soon realized that if they were to be solitary cells, they would have been killed by stronger ones.  Hence many bonded together for survival - these are "clump" cells.  These cells would become a cluster  and start eating other lonely cells. To be more effective at catching the next meal, they evolved into organisms with their own source of propulsion.

These clump cells formedTiana and first made the shallow tropical oceans of Populus home.  With an efficient propulsion system, it was able to move through water quickly and catch its prey directly.  The later generations eventually multiplied and occupied all of the oceans on Populus.

Multi-cellular Animals

Angler

First: Rocky Tropical Shores

A number of cells drifted to the rocky tropical shores, and evolved into Angler - the first member of Drious family.  Due to rocky tropical shores drastic elevation changes, along with its changes in latitude, Angler evolved millions of years ago for survival. It ate small plants and organisms.  For reproductive purposes, anglers adapted new sexual organs where males produced the sperm and females produced the eggs.

 Animola

Second: Rocky Polar Shores

A good number of cells got drifted to rocky polar shores and evolved into Animola.   Due to the turbulent condition on rocky polar shores, these fishes maintained a big size to survive the storms.  Animola appeared to have  a special sense "search recognition - like" mechanism that helped them detect prey from miles away by producing electrical pulses.  And like their cousins, Anglers, they too had sexual organs for reproduction purposes. However they are believed to mate only two or three times during their entire life span.

Chiquito

Third: Estuaries

A good number of cells found this environment to be a good place to call home.  They lived by the muddy waters of Populus' river entrance. They evolved into Chiquito.  These fishes made their own electricity and lit themselves up to attract the opposite sex during the mating season.  As a result of its rather small size, it killed its prey by producing poison within its surroundings.  Once its prey was in the poisonous area, it was instantly immobilized.  To protect themselves from other species, Chiquitos had developed sharp thorns to let others know that they cannot easily be swallowed.  And like their cousins, they too had sexual organs for reproductive purposes. They are very sexually active.

Fieulo

Fourth: Shallow Tropical Oceans

Fieulo's tail fin was rounded, with the rear part of the backbone turned upward helping it to move in the water faster and easier. Gigantic sharp teeth are present in the mouth to crack through hard objects.  They were about  10 to 12 feet long and were active at night in hunting for smaller fishes.  Males constructed a nest by biting and rubbing vegetation in a shallow area. These actions left a clean area on the bottom to which the eggs were attached. Males stay with the eggs and the fry for a while after they hatch.
