Coordinate Water Animal

Populus has four different environments that are home to a wide variety of aquatic animals.  It is estimated that 97% of all water in Populus is contained within the oceans.  Below is a description of the four "biomes" on the planet.  :

Shallow Tropical Oceans: The shallow waters of the oceans receive a lot of energy from Eris. These oceans stay warm a great part of the year. The waves carried nutrients from the oceans to animals and plants of Populus. Lakes are found in the continents of Durin and Gloen.

Tropical Estuaries:  In Populus there are several rivers, many of which carry their waters to the oceans. The place where the river merges with the oceans is called Tropical Estuaries. Animals and plants here learn how to survive in salt waters as well as in fresh waters. It is interesting how some animals have adapted to both waters. In some seasons, they travel up river and in some other season come back to the salty waters of the oceans. This environment is most common in the tropical regions of Populus.

Rocky Tropical Shores: The rocky surface is very challenging for the animals and plants living in this environment. Usually there are fast currents or strong tides. The animals had to revolutionize their bodies to adapt to these conditions. They developed legs to avoid being dragged to other places.  Plants had to grow organs called holdfasts to hold themselves in place. The rocky surfaces also had warm waters.

Rocky Polar Shores:  The rocky polar shores are filled with extremely cold waters. This environment is the most dangerous and yet fertile. There live a great number of animals and plants. The living things have adapted to tough conditions.
