Land Plants
Early Plants
Jetograss grew in the Mud Flat regions throughout Eupleides, where the land and ocean water met. As time went on, the plant began to grow further inland and, because of the change in the environment, they also changed. Since water was not as readily available, the roots grew longer and stronger. Jetograss, which grew as high as 10 inches, would eventually evolve into a variety of different plants. As they moved further away from shore, they changed to Jetostem. |
Plants Adapt & Live
Jetostem was one of the early land plants found on Eupleides. In order for the plant to survive under the hot sun, it needed to create a waxy residue on the leaves in order to maintain the moisture and water used to sustain life. For some variants of Jetostem, the stem grew harder to protect it from the elements. In others, the roots grew deeper into the ground in order to feed on underground water streams. |
Environment One: Deciduous Forest
The Jetotree grows abundantly in the Deciduous Forests of Eupleides. These mighty trees, reaching as high as 50 feet, are considered Evergreens because their leaves do not fall. Though the leaves do not fall, they do change colors in the colder seasons. These trees live long lives, sometimes greater than 70 years or more. The roots extend deep underground, forming a strong foundation for the tree. These roots supply water for the tree, while the leaves absorb the light from Luminous. |
Environment Two: Desert
As plant life migrated further inland, some parts of the environment became very dry and hot. The water became sparse and the rains that supplied the water were light and infrequent. This caused another evolution in plants that desired survival. These plants took root and, rather than grow upwards, their bodies expanded. They grew no more that 6 inches tall, but they were nearly 4 inches round. Their larger bodies allowed them to store water during the long and dry stretches that are common in the desert regions. |
Environment Three: Grasslands
Just beyond the Mud Flats, there is an environment with low rolling hills and light rainfalls. This environment, commonly known as the Grasslands, soon became home to a wide variety of plant life. The early plants to occupy the area resembled the Jetograss of the Mud Flats, except for the bright red flower that grew on some of the stems. In addition to the flower, the Jetoflower is also larger than Jetograss, ranging in size from 5 - 24 inches. |
