Shallow Rocky Shore

As part of the intertidal zone, this is one region where water meets the land.  The region is full of rocks that plants can anchor themselves to.  Part of the area is exposed to air during low tides.  Waves constantly move over the rocky surface and affect the organisms that live in that region.

Mud Flats

This is a unique environment in the shallow waters of the ocean.  It can also be part of the intertidal zone where water meets the land.  However, this environment is full of mud and rich in nutrients.  The water moving over this region is warm and calm.  During low tides, much of the mud is exposed to air.  During high tides, mud is covered by water.  Organisms that live in this region have adapted to minimal protection.

Open Ocean

This region is past the continental shelf where the depth can reach as deep as 200m.  This region encompasses most of Euseus Ocean and Capripous Ocean and is full of life.
