MICROBIOLOGY - written by scientist MONA

The early Osiris was a planet with no life on it. The land was bathed in ultraviolet rays from Horus, the sun. The ocean water was boiling due to the active underground volcanoes. Its atmosphere was poisonous with gases that escaped from the volcanoes. The survey team believes that life began at the Greater Osiris Crater which was created when another planetoid collided with Osiris.

This collision changed Osiris’ atmosphere allowing the first forms of life to begin. These primitive organisms fed on chemicals dissolved in the water of the Greater Osiris Crater.

These first primitive organisms, Mins, developed in the water and utilized the dissolved chemicals for nutrients. These unicellular organisms multiplied by simple cell division, forming clones or exact copies of themselves. Since the offspring shared the exact same genetic code as the parent, their evolution was very slow. Mins had no nuclear membrane.

About 1.6 billion years ago, the great volcano Seth erupted. Seth was an underwater volcano in the Greater Osiris Crater. When it erupted, many Mins were pushed to the ocean surface. Many Mins  died but some were able to survive. These unicellular organisms adapted to their new environment. The rays from Horus supplied the energy for them.

Over time, these simple living organisms were no longer Mins. They became Atums. They had organelles to carry out specialized tasks and a nucleus. These organisms reproduced sexually. Genetic material was mixed between two parents. The offspring resembled the parents in major features but there were minor genetic variations that yielded subtle differences. The new characteristics helped the Atums to adapt to their new environment.

Khnums were among the earliest multicellular organisms. They probably evolved when several specially adapted types of Atums joined together. These multicellular organisms contained chloroplasts. Along with sunlight and carbon dioxide, Khnums were able to produce their own food. They were the first plants on the planet of Osiris.
