| Tropical Marine Plants grow in regions
that have warm, wet weather the year around. This is the same for planet
Millenia. These regions include the Central and the Northern,
and South part of the hemisphere. Most marine plants in tropical waters
are broadleaf such as the feely phylum. Because of the warm, wet
weather they never complete lose their leaves to currents. These plants
lose a few leaves at a times through the year.
Many types of underwater plants grow in the tropical
waters, including water roots and tubular weeds. The trees
grow so close together that little sunlight can reach the ground.
As a result , only fern like plants that require little sunlight
can grow on the oceans floor. Many of the plants extend their leaves
in order to reach the sun's nurturing rays. The heavy run-off
(rainfall) that occurs in tropical rain forest dissolves much
of the nutrients and organic material out of the soil. This soil that has
no nutrients goes to local rivers and eventually into the oceans. As
a result, the soils found in tropical rain forest contain a
very small amount of nutrients and organic matter, therefore providing
little nutrients to the underwater plants. \
Aquatic regions are bodies of fresh or salt water.
Freshwater areas include lakes, rivers, swamps nd marshes. Coastal marshes
and oceans are saltwater regions. Most kinds of aquatic plants on planet
Millenia live completely under the surface of the water. This is true due
to the fact that 80% of the planet is under water. There are, however,
a few places where there are land plants. Other species of aquatic plants
such as spongey fern, the smallest known flowering plant, float freely
on the surface . Still other such as the water rose grow only
partly underwater. Many aquatic plants have air species in their stems
and leaves.
The air spaces among marine plants help them stand
erect or stay afloat. This is a marine evolution over thousands of years.
Marine plants need to maintain afloat in order to be able to "catch" the
sun's rays. If plants stay in the middle or lower portion of the sea, they
will die, due to the lack of sunlight. Aquatic regions have unique conditions
that make it difficult for many types of plants to grow there. Since there
are constant rain showers and floods, many water plants become flooded.
As a result only a few species of plants are able to survive in aquatic
regions . Common freshwater plants include duck-ducky weeds, pondy-poo
weeds, water-water lilies, and suave aloe plants.
