LandPlants

Welcome to Lumpar's Plant Lair. Plants are crucial to maintaining and shaping Lumpar's environment. Just like on Earth, plants produce oxygen and serve as internal elements of the food chain on Lumpar. Lumpar's plants also manufacture their own food through photosynthesis. Chlorophyll helps plants capture the light energy from the sun and use it to create sugar, starch and carbohydrates. This is an easy task since Lumpar orbits around two suns.

Consequently, plants on Lumpar are twice as big as plants on Earth. As you journey through Lumpar's lands, you will be captivated by the sweet smell of Lumpar's foliage. It is a horticulturalist's dream. But, don't be deceived, because you just might be the main course.

These Carnivorous Plants will not turn down an opportunity to feast on mammalian flesh ...a delicacy on Lumpar. Lumpar is a planet filled with wild and morbid plants, carnivorous plants, that is. It has nearly 2000 plant species of Carnivorous plants. These carnivorous plants, trap and slowly dissolve live animals, or on rare occassions, an unsuspecting Discoians.

These plants are found in the wet, swampy areas of Lumpar. These dangerous, sticky plants nibble the flesh off their prey. Why would plants want to do this? They do this to supplement the nutrients that they receive from soil. Soil in Lumpar is not as rich in nutrients as the soil on other planets. How do they do this? These fascinating plants lure their prey with a sweet scent and nectar. Once their prey is hypnotized by the scent, the plant quickly traps it and the animal is easily digested.

These carnivorous plants contain special enzymes, unlike other plants that live in this solar system. You might be wondering, how can I identify these plants so that I won't become the main course? The answer is...very carefully. O.K., so there is no cookie cutter answer.

Since Lumpar is a relatively new planet, and new plants are evolving everyday, it is not an easy task to identify the 2000 known species. Your best bet, is to be extremely careful. If I were you, I wouldn't get off your space ship. But, if you're the adventurous type, then read on. I've listed a few clues for you.

Let me tempt you with a bit of information. Here's a taste. Carnivorous plants have a distinct primordial look. They have very tender, bright green leaves sprouting all sorts of diabolical traps. One plant might have delicate tentacles that glisten with drops of sticky nectar, while another will have bulbous pitchers filled with very dangerous pools of water. What do Carnivorous Plants look like? Here are a few pictures of these Carnivorous plants. They were taken by a very careful astronaut who visited Lumpar by mistake.
