DANA LOGAN

All of my education has been completed within the Los Angeles area. My high school education took place at Van Nuys Math/Science Magnet School in Van Nuys. It provided an environment that developed and challenged my math and science skills. I took honors and advanced placement biology, chemistry, physics and math analysis.

My first two years of undergraduate work were completed at Glendale Community College where I furthered my studies in math and science by taking calculus, biology and aeronautics. After two years, I transferred to UCLA where I finished work towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. I graduated in 1994.

My teaching career began in October of 1994 in the east San Fernando Valley. While teaching, I pursued a teaching credential through the Los Angeles School District Intern Program.

At Sunland, I have been a teacher for three years instructing fifth grade modified bilingual classes. The population that I teach consists of predominantly Latin American students who are low in English proficiency skills. I work throughout the school year to develop their English skills to enable them to transition into an English program. I have found that limited English students acquire English vocabulary with greater ease through inquiry-based, interactive instructional delivery inherent in science.
