Welcome to Planet Gump!

Somewhere in the far off reaches of the universe...

In the JAM solar system there exists a strange little planet named Gump. Three enthusiastic Scientists at The California State University in Los Angeles discovered and explored this unique planet. The history of our planet starts approximately seven billion years ago, with the formation of the solar system that Gump inhabits. Within this system, there are five planets rotating around the sun, ranging in size and density. Their names are: Gump, Plump, Frump, Clump and Dump. Having the benefit of being located in the Life Zone, Gump has a variety of life forms living above and below its surface.

Because of it's axis, rotation speed, and angle (10%), Gump has two seasons: Summer and Winter. Our planet is Semi-Temperate and Tropical in climate, with sizable amounts of rainfall. The Equatorial Zone receives rainfall daily. Volcanic activity can also be observed, along with numerous mountain rages of various heights and lengths.

Gump has a few large continents, with the largest one being situated at the equator. Due to a greenhouse effect during its development, there is a large amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, creating food for the existing plant life to consume. Gump has two polar caps that are desert-like, with permafrost below the surface. Small plants, such as lichen, mosses, and cacti, have adapted to the harsh environment. The planet is also inhabited by nomadic organisms that are a combination of both plants and animals.

"Gumpians" create their own food through the process of
photosynthesis, thereby relieving themselves from the on-going task of food gathering. They are sun dependent and roam from place to place in the Equatorial Zone, staying one step ahead of the many predators that will munch them if given the chance. Gumpians have evolved to a high social order, despite being at the bottom of the planet's food chain. We'll discuss Gump in more detail later on during your visit...

Notice the features of the planet. The brownish area shows the largest continent, located in the Equatorial Zone and is where the Gumpians live. Gump is a semi-temperate tropical planet. This is just the start... Let's start exploring!
