The Meteorology of Skylark

Skylark the Planet

The weather of Skylark is very similar to the one we have here on earth. Skylark is a tropical planet that has a lot of rain fall throughout the year. Planet Skylark is comprised of 65% water and 35% land mass located on four large continents.  Sunlight passes through the atmosphere and heats the ground which in turn warms the air near the surface. The atmosphere on Skylark is thick with a heavy gravitational pull from the surface and prevents most of the heat from escaping into space. That also makes the surface habitable for plants and animals.
Air and Water Currents

There are two major cold currents in the upper half of the world which make the weather cold and full of ice in those area. Another two warm  currents  travel to the left of the lower half of the world. Tropical warm air masses allow mild temperatures on all four continents.  Mountain elevations of up to 15,000  feet create cooler air masses and winter snow.
Rainfall
Rainfall amounts on Skylark range from under 10 inches per year in tundra areas and  to up to more than 100 inches per year in tropical rain forest areas located near equatorial region.
Temperature

Winter Season

Temperature is pretty moderate in Skylark. The winter season is not that severe and only higher elevation and Arctic regions suffer lower below freezing degree which provide snowfall. The temperature in summer season ranges from 30-130F.
