Land Plants

Lujenar's plant life eventually evolved from aquatic plant life to plants that thrived off the soil, had seeds and flowered. The following plants are some that can be found in Lujenar's three land biomes, the desert, the tropical rain forest and grasslands.

Early Plant Life
Frink

The Frink was one of the first plants that crept out of the ocean and settled on the sandy banks. Here is found rich, moist soil that allowed it to still use the water as a main source of energy. However, it now had the sun's rays to harness energy as well. It grew out long thin, skinny roots that dug deep into the soil. The use of solar energy allowed it to produce pollen that floated out in the air and mixed with those of other Frinks. Plants now were able to reproduce off-spring that contained new genetic make-up. The Frink lived mainly around the banks of the ocean. Through time some seedlings floated out inland and new plants began to take over Lujenar's land.

Desert Plant
Friz

It is well known that the desert is very hot during the day and very cold during the night. There is little to no rain and soil is grainy and rough. Therefore, in order for plant life to life here it has to be very well equipped to survive this harsh terrain. Lujenar's deserts are very much the same as those on Earth, life is scarce and water is hard to find. The Frink evolved into a small tough plant that could survive the extreme heat. With time the Friz emerges into desert life. It grew small yellow buds that help it to hold water. These buds are like holding tanks that help the plant keep its moisture. The Friz plant flowers only once a year. The pollen grains  are branched out through the top of the flowers and make their way to other Friz plants with the help of the wind and any wandering animals that serve as a bridge from one plant to another.

Tropical Rain Forest
Flogger

As some of the Frink seedlings  floated into the rain forest they  encountered an environment rich in water and greenery. Unlike the desert, the rain forest has constant downpours of water and a moist, humid atmosphere.  In this humid environment the frink evolved into a giant, leafy plant called the Flogger. On the tips of the leaves there are tiny white dots that allow the leaves to breathe. The atmosphere  produces carbon dioxide and the plant then transforms that into oxygen. Since the Flogger does not produce flowers, it relies on the wind to spread out its seedlings. Through the openings in the leaves the Flogger pushes out spores into the air and waits for the wind to spread them out. Since it has enough water, the Flogger is able to grow leaves that can reach up to 3 feet in length. The Flogger is a low growing plant that tends to stay low to the ground. The rain forest has thick canopies that cover the upper levels of the trees. This then limits the amount of sunlight that reaches the bottom of the floor. Therefore, the Flogger has adapted itself to growing in an environment that has little light and plenty of water.

Grassland Plant
Firment

The other biome to cover Lujenar's lands is the grasslands. In this environment there is plenty of sunlight. However, unlike the desert, the grasslands are not as hot. Rain falls every other day and plants are able to thrive with ease. As Fink seedlings settled on the soil and adapted to their new surroundings, they sprouted into Firments. Since the grasslands are like open fields, the Firment is yellowish in color. During the day it is hard to see the plant's outline. This allows it to camouflage itself from plant eating animals. Every year the Firment sprouts tiny yellow flowers. The plant sends out spores that get caught in the fur of animals and insects. These spores then travel to other Firments and in time they flower. The Firment's long stems can grow up to four feet in height, providing many creatures with shade and shelter.
