My name is Armando Pedroza. I graduated from Cal State Los Angeles earning a Bachelors Degree in Biology. I am currently teaching third grade for the Los Angeles Unified School District. I have been teaching for four years now and am enjoying myself more than I thought I would. While I was working on my degree, I was working as a paraprofessional. I worked at Rowan Elementary School. I have worked with teachers in first, second, and fifth grade. I also operated the computer lab at Rowan Elementary School. Before I got my current job, I was a substitute teacher for about four months for LAUSD. Both jobs were beneficial and rewarding. I love to use technology in my classroom as a tool for teaching children. My first computer was a Commodore 64. Ever since, I have loved working with computers. I have been using computers for about 14 years and am excited about the possibilities of their diverse use in instruction. I am currently
working on my credential and masters degree in
Instructional Technology. My main goal is to study and
improve the use of computer technology in the classroom. I
own seven PCs, which are presently being used by my third
grade students as learning tool. I have noticed that some
students become more creative in their writing when they are
allowed to compose a writing project using the word
processor. Students also enjoy reading books on CD-ROM. As a
result, their reading fluency has increased. Computer
technology looks very promising as a learning tool. They
will help students meet District and State academic
standards. |
