About
Myself
I am the youngest of
four children. My parents are originally from Chihuahua,
Mexico. I consider myself Mexican American: I have had the opportunity
to become part of both cultures. I love visiting Mexico to relax
and keep in touch with my many relatives that live there.
I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the Los Angeles area,
in the city of South Gate. I really enjoyed living in South
Gate for most of my life: I have many fond memories. I now live
in the city of Downey, which is just east of South Gate.
My
Work
I am currently a substitute
teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District.
My goal is to find a position as an Art Educator at the Junior
or Senior high level. My passion is art and I want to teach and
share my passion with students who need an outlet. I want my
students to be able to express themselves in a creative and positive
manner.
My
Education
I received two AA Degrees
from Cerritos Junior College in Art and in General Studies. I
then transferred to California State University Long Beach, where
I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art with an option in
Art Education. I now attend California State University
Los Angeles, where I have almost finished my Single Subject Credential
and am unofficially enrolled in the Masters Program in Education
with an option in New Media Design and Production. I hope
to integrate the knowledge I receive in my Masters Degree by
combining it with the art curriculum, or by working for an educational
company as a program designer.
My
Interests
I really
enjoy painting, but I especially love to sculpt. In the
future I hope to sell my own pieces and open an inner city gallery,
where the voices of people of all colors and creeds can be heard.
I also enjoy visiting museums, listening to different styles
of music, traveling , hanging out with my friends and family
and just enjoying life to the fullest.
I
am very proud of these huaraches, this was my first oil painting!

I am outside of Long Beach State's Pyramid on graduation day
and getting my
hands full of plaster, while creating a life sculpture.
I really love working
with my hands!
