Make a Background PP Template

Make a Background PP Template

This is how to make a template that will be the background for a PowerPoint unit.

I am going to make a background for a presentation.   I will use the Universe Image Creator program (that I suggested you use in the first unit) to make a picture that I can use for my background.  If you already have the picture that you want, go directly to Step 3.  These directions will work with any picture that you want to use.

1.  Download Universe Image Creator

Go to  http://www.diardsoftware.com/  (You may want to explore the site and see what this program can do.)

Go down the first page to where it says  Download Universe Version  XXX  (version number)

Click on this and save the file to your desktop.  It will be called univXXX.zip  Click on this file when it is on your desktop and see if your computer will unzip it.  If it will not unzip, you need ExtractNow from http://www.download.com/

Save Universe on your desktop or your C drive.

2.  Open Universe

Go to FILE  -->  NEW

Select Image Size   1024 x 768

Now click on the icons along the top of the page to sprinkle stars and other features on your page.
When you are satisfied with the look of your page
, go to EDIT -->  COPY.  (If you have a complicated picture in some other program you might want to SELECT ALL and then COPY.)

(3)  OPEN  PowerPoint

Go to FORMAT --> BACKGROUND

Press on the down arrow under the diagram and choose  FILL EFFECTS  --> PICTURE

Click on SELECT PICTURE and find the picture in the file where you saved it.

Click on INSERT

The program goes back to the little background window.

Click on APPLY TO ALL.

Choose a BLANK PRESENTATION

PASTE onto the blank presentation.

SAVE AS  -->    DESIGN TEMPLATE (*.pot)

The program will automatically open the TEMPLATES file to save the template in

The picture is now firmly pasted on the page.

Go to   INSERT  --> NEW SLIDE

FORMAT    -->   APPLY DESIGN TEMPLATE
