Doing World
Builders in PowerPoint
|
|
|
|
Each person should make
his/her individual set of slides.
|
|
Decide who will assemble each one of the
biomes for which you
created your land plants and animals. Each person will assemble
the life forms for ONE of the
biomes. You will
need to exchange
pictures with your team
mates.
Take all the
plants and animals that belong to
the biome that you
are working on.
This means that you will
be working with pictures
that your group members
created as well as the
pictures that you made
yourself or this one particular
biome.

Lay out the text of your
PowerPoint presentation something like
this
|
|
|
|
Slide
1
This title screen introduces the biome that you are working on.
Combine all the plants and animals in your
biome in this slide to make a scene.
|
|
 |
Slide
2
Show where your
biome is located on the map.
What are
conditions like there?
|
|
Slide 3
Describe conditions in your biome.
Describe temperature, rainfall, seasonal
variations, availability of food and water, and
Primary Productivity in Kilocalories
per Square Meter.
What problems do the life forms have to
solve? |
|
Slide 4
Describe your primary producers.
Tell about their size, appearance, growth
habits and reproductive processes. |
|
Slide 5
Tell about their size, appearance, growth
habits and reproductive processes. |
|
Slide 6 Describe your primary
producers.
Tell about their size, appearance, growth
habits and reproductive processes. |
|
Slide 7
Describe your primary consumers.
What do they eat, how much do they weigh,
how do they reproduce and solve their life problems? how long do they
live? |
 |
Slide 8 Describe your primary consumers.
What do they eat, how much do they weigh,
how do they reproduce and solve their life problems? how long do they
live? |
|
Slide
9
Describe your secondary consumers.
What do they eat, how much do they weigh,
how do they reproduce and solve their life problems? how long do they
live? |
|
Slide 10
Describe your tertiary consumers if you have them
in your biome.
What do they eat, how much do they weigh,
how do they reproduce and solve their life problems? how long do they
live? |
 |
Slide 11
Create a food web. There are examples in
the Biomes section.
|
 |
Slide 12
Use this slide to explain what the food pyramid
and the energy pyramid mean.
Explain what happens to the energy made
available by the primary producers as it moves up the biosphere.
|
 |
Slide 13 Create
an energy pyramid. |
Once you have your
text all laid out, select background pictures for your slides and add graphics as
appropriate. Attractive
appearance contributes to your
grade, as does demonstration of
understanding of the scientific
concepts involved. You may include additional material if you wish.
